Networked printers

Installed on a print server, doc-Q-route policies all network printing activity, tells you who is printing what and enables any organisation to apply rules for print jobs and users to control costs, improve productivity and sustain environmental policies.

Through a very simple administration interface rules may be set to:
At a stroke doc-Q-route:
  •  Cuts office printing costs
  •  Improves office productivity
  •  Helps meet environmental “Green” targets
  •  Tracks all print activity
Take a look at the feature list for more details.
Track all print activity

Print behaviour and who is printing what, where and when can be tracked and reported. doc-Q-route analyses and logs all print jobs through the print server ready for export to the reporting tool of your choice.

Control colour printing

Printing unnecessary colour and misuse of colour capable devices is a major cause of increased cost of printing. doc-Q-route gives you the tools to take control. It not only identifies if a job is colour or black and white, so as to make sure it is printed on the right device, but it can also modify colour jobs and convert them to black and white, based on the user and the type of the print job.
Limit email and web page printing

We all see emails and web pages printed in abundance, not just the first page, but the whole email or web page chain. What's more, emails usually have a colour hyperlink and perhaps a footer logo causing a high cost per page if printed on a colour capable device. With doc-Q-route, rules may be simply defined to automatically decolourise such jobs, limit the number of pages printed, and print in economy mode, so saving both paper and toner as well as the cost of printing unnecessary colour.
Intelligent printer failover Printer images

doc-Q-route monitors for printer status. If a job is sent to a printer in an error state it can be intelligently re-routed to another working device and the user informed by pop-up or email as to why and to which device. Not only does this keep office work flowing smoothly but, when the faulty device is fixed, paper and toner are not wasted by redundant printing of jobs that weren't cancelled.

Enforce paper and toner savings

Rules may be set to force duplex and economy print modes where devices make this available. You can also stop wastage with a configurable switch to prevent duplicate printing of jobs as a result of users impatiently multiple clicking "OK" pending a reaction from the command to print.
Route to best printer

Desktop printers cost more to run than departmental multi-function devices yet they continue to be used out of habit or convenience, even for large jobs. With doc-Q-route you can set page count limits so that jobs above a certain size are automatically routed to a cheaper cost per copy device. Routing rules may also be set to prevent users printing black and white jobs on colour printers and, where there is a central reprographics print room, making sure really large jobs are sent there to be printed using ATI’s job ticketing system.
Inform users

When doc-Q-route applies a rule, users can be kept informed about what is happening. Automated free format messages can be sent to users by way of pop-ups and email advising them that a rule has been applied and what action has been taken. Or messages may be made merely advisory, perhaps warning a user that a job is of certain size and would be more appropriately printed on the cheaper to run departmental MFP.
Simple administration interface

doc-Q-route Admin User Interface Simplicity is the word for configuration and ongoing management of rules with doc-Q-route. Remotely operated from anywhere on the network, the straightforward administrator interface enables rules to be set by simply defining Conditions, Actions, Exceptions and Messages required, then assigning them to the specified devices on the network.
